Volendam
Named after the city of Volendam, the MS Volendam is part of the Holland America Line and a identical sister ship to the MS Zaandam. Flowers are a big part of the internal decor, with fresh flowers displayed in abundance. Features include mini-suites with verandahs, an Internet centre, and boutique shopping.

From October 2010, the Volendam will be sailing from Sydney, Australia, and taking in ports in Noumea and around New Zealand. To book a cruise aboard the Volendam go to www.cruisesalefinder.com.au.

An earlier ship registered in 1922 was also named the SS Volendam, although it was nowhere as comfortable as the modern MS Volendam. A recent visit to Australia brought back wartime memories for one man:
"The visit of the MS Volendam brought back memories for Eden resident John Polak, whose family fled to Australia from Czechoslovakia following persecution in World War II. John spent his 10th Christmas and saw in 1949 on the SS Volendam during a five-week trip from Rotterdam, Holland to Melbourne, Australia."
